Gray Days

I have discovered a new way to draw clouds and rain! Oh the joy! The prompt was gray days and we were free to take that anyway we wanted. It got me thinking about the effect rainy gray days can have on me. They can be depressing and bleak or seen as an opportunity to stay indoors and have a quiet afternoon of reading. It all about attitude. I remember times in grade school when it would be raining outside and I would become mesmerized by the sight and sound of it. Even the smell would creep into me and become distracting. Recess would come and the excitement of the weather would take over. I'd run outside and suddenly be transported to another world which didn't exist before the storm. Fascination would eventually move aside when the wetness started to creep into my bones and i became cold. Then it was time to quickly make friends with someone who had an umbrella. The most reliable person was, of course, the teacher. They always seemed to be prepared for rain. The following illustration is about being in such a situation and the closeness it creates.
